John Bise has spent his career working with companies in transition, their owners and their funds providers. Educated in economics (Vanderbilt University, B.A.) and business (Harvard Business School, M.B.A.), he spent several years in commercial banking with The Citizens and Southern Banks in Georgia (now Bank of America) and with Deposit Guaranty (now Regions) in Mississippi. Bise left commercial banking to join a venture capital firm (Invesat Capital), then worked for an investment firm (Geary & Patterson, subsequently Morgan Keegan & Co). After several years of independent consulting he returned to the venture business with Hickory Venture Group. He has worked independently for the past ten years.
During his career, Bise has been introduced to hundreds of businesses and assessed their financial and strategic health as the basis for making - or denying - investments. He has had to judge the ability of managers, board members and owners to perform their duties. He can read a business situation accurately, evaluate workable solutions, and guide managers and owners as they implement his recommendations.
With his experience as a lender, investor and borrower, Bise can survey a case from multiple perspectives and provide informed guidance to buyers and sellers. With his credentials and perspective, Bise can bring clarity and rationality to companies in distress.
If your company is in transition, and the solution requires business valuation, restructuring assistance, interim management or litigation support, Bise can help.
